Kenyan Sammy Korir has won the second BRICS League marathon in St. Petersburg, Russia. The athlete crossed the finish line in a time of 2:15:33.
Other African athletes included Korir's compatriot Isaac Cheluko, as well as Ethiopia's Jemila Wortesa and Tadesse Bedada.
Athletes from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan also participated in the marathon.
The first competition of the recently formed BRICS Marathon League was held in Kazan, Russia, in May. The next competition will be held in Moscow in October. South Africa and other BRICS members, such as Brazil, China, India, etc., are expected to join the league soon.
