The Ukrainian conference in Switzerland without Russia's participation is nonsense; nothing will come out of this meeting, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso, told Russian TV broadcaster.
"We couldn't participate because we believe that if it's truly about peace, if we want peace, then both sides need to be present," said the minister. "When we learned that Russia would not be there, we understood that it was nonsense. Nothing will come of this gathering."
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Congolese counterpart reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the political dialogue and maintaining close coordination at the United Nations and other forums, including on the Ukrainian crisis and the promotion of a multipolar world order, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
