The direct flight agreement between Russia and Tanzania highlights Moscow's commitment to re-engage with countries in Africa, Nairobi-based researcher Dr. Chido Mutangadura-Yeswa, Senior Fellow at the UN University's Centre for Policy Research in Switzerland, tells Global South Pole.
“Russia has been on a mission to revitalize its relationship with African countries, and Russia has had a historic advantage in this regard. And it has been so far able to leverage Soviet support for the decolonization movement in Africa, and so this has ensured a cordial relationship with African countries,” she explains.
