Ukraine and the US will have to answer directly for the Sunday attack on the beach in Russia's city of Sevastopol, Mexican expert David Garcia told Sputnik.
The shelling of civilian objects violates the Geneva Convention, he said, adding that the fact that it was carried out on an important Orthodox holiday can also be considered an aggravating circumstance.
He stressed that it must be taken into account that Sevastopol is the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. There are several symbolic moments and coordination in the organization of the attacks, as the expert highlighted.
The fact that they were directed against civilians is particularly worrying, Garcia said, noting that this could be a reason for consideration by the International Criminal Court.
The attack left at least five people dead, including three children, according to authorities. More than 120 people were injured. Monday was declared a day of mourning in Sevastopol and Crimea.
Following the deadly attack, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Washington was responsible for the missile strike on civilians, as flight missions for ATACMS missiles are programmed by American specialists based on US satellite reconnaissance.
