In early April, Colombia joined South Africa's genocide lawsuit against Israel, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) said. In early May, Turkish Foreign Ministry revealed that Turkey also sought to join the case.

On December 29, 2023, South Africa filed a complaint against Israel at the ICJ under the Genocide Convention over the situation in Gaza, asking the court to take interim measures against the Israeli authorities.
