Cuba has joined South Africa's lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the Cuban Foreign Ministry said.
On December 29, 2023, South Africa filed a complaint against Israel at the ICJ under the Genocide Convention over the situation in Gaza, asking the court to take interim measures against the Israeli authorities.
On January 26, the ICJ ordered Israel to take all measures to prevent genocide in Gaza. However, the court did not oblige Israel to stop the military operation in Gaza, as South Africa requested in its lawsuit.
The death toll from the Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip exceeded 37,500 people, according to the region's health ministry.
