A new vice president, Michael Usi, was appointed in Malawi after the previous one, Saulos Chilima, died in a plane crash last week.
Usi, who previously served as the country's minister of natural resources and climate change, will officially take office on Friday, the government said.
Following the plane crash, which killed Chilima, the country's party, Alliance for Democracy, asked the United Nations to intervene in the investigation into the incident.
