The administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki “has set a standard for businesses to grow.” One of the core areas his administration prioritized was developing a roadmap to revitalize the state’s mining sector by creating “an inclusive system” to attract local and foreign investors, says Enaholo Ojeifoh, Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Edo State, Nigeria.

“So Rosatom for us is a big win; it’s a quick win for us because we understand from the record that they are one of the best multinational companies in the world, a global company in the world. They have the capacity, they have the technology, and they have the manpower to develop the mining sector. So what we have done as a state is secure that space for Rosatom because we so much trust them with their capacity and Russian technology to develop our mining sector. So today, Edo State is Rosatom, and Rosatom is Edo State,” Ojeifoh states.

The episode also featured insightful input from the following experts:
Vsevolod Sviridov, an expert at the Centre for African Studies at the Higher School of Economics (HSE University). He discussed Rosatom's strategy to strengthen its position in Africa's nuclear energy market.
