Malawi's Alliance for Democracy appeals to the UN for intervention in the investigation into the death of the country's vice president in a plane crash, the media reported.
The party also made the same request to the African Union. The letter, signed by party leader Enock Chihana, said the organization considers the tragedy a matter of national concern because it involved high-ranking officials; hence, a UN intervention is needed.
Malawian Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight senior officials were killed in a plane crash near the country's Chikangawa, Mzimba District, on Monday.
On Wednesday, Malawi's Information and Digitalization Minister, Moses Kunkuyu, said that the country's Defense Force and police will investigate the incident, which was reportedly caused by bad weather.
