Nigeria's largest oil refinery Dangote Refinery has commenced the export of jet fuel to Europe in an effort to expand the continental oil market, Nigerian media reported.
British Petroleum is transporting a total of 45,000 tonnes of jet fuel from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, onboard the vessel Doric Breeze, according to a report from S&P Global Commodity Insights cited by local media.
The $20 billion Dangote Refinery, officially inaugurated in May 2023, aims to produce refined oil for the global market.
The world's largest single-train oil refinery was sponsored by Aliko Dangote, the Africa's richest man, according to Forbes. The refinery has the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is expected to reduce Nigeria's reliance on costly fuel imports.
