The European Union is a 'fly poo on the map' compared to Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Pyotr Tolstoy told Sputnik.
Russia remains the largest country in the world, while the European Union is just a small part of the European continent, he said.
"We need to study geography more, because it helps us make decisions in the economy and politics," he stressed.
Tolstoy also noted that former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was right in his recent skepticism about sending Western troops to the battlefield in Ukraine to fight Russia.
