Each African nation and the entire continent must have the ability to independently choose its own partners, protect its own interests, and act on them, Tanzanian Foreign Minister January Makamba told the Russian media.
"We [Africans] find it offensive to be asked to choose this one particular partner or another," he highlighted.
True sovereignty and independence for Africa could be achieved through self-reliance and unity, the top diplomat underlined.
The foreign minister also denounced former colonial powers and other Western nations for trying to regain control over Africa, which prompts countries like Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso to "kick out" their former colonizers.
"European countries, and particularly America, right now, are trying to make a last-second dash into Africa," Makamba highlighted.
Recently, France has been losing ground in Africa, especially in the western part of the continent, where the leaders of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger terminated military agreements with their former colonizers.
