During discussions about a Switzerland's "peace conference" with foreign ambassadors in Kiev, Volodymyr Zelensky demanded support for his peace formula in an elevated tone, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a press conference following the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Ministerial Council in Kazakhstan.
"In late April, during discussions with foreign ambassadors in Kyiv about this Swiss conference scheme, according to some participants' assessments, Zelensky spent most of the time improvising chaotically and, in an elevated, almost hysterical tone, demanded support for his peace formula as a means to force Russia to its knees," he said.
The minister added that a person who does not feel the need to control themselves begins to speak the truth.
The Kremlin has repeatedly emphasized that it has never refused to negotiate with the Kiev authorities. However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that there are currently no prerequisites for this, as the movement towards peace is being ruled out by both Ukraine and the collective West. According to him, the situation can only change if new realities are taken into account; all of Moscow's demands are well known.
