Kiev Loses Up to 425 Soldiers in Battles With Russian West Froup of Forces, Russian MoD Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Since the beginning of 2024, Russian forces have been on the move in Ukraine at a faster pace than they have for many months before, with Kiev officials admitting that their troops have found themselves in a difficult situation.

Ukraine has lost up to 425 soldiers in battles with Russia's West Group of Forces over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"The Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 425 military personnel, a tank, two armored personnel carriers, six cars [among other military losses in battles with Russia's Zapad Group of Forces]," the ministry said in a statement, adding that the group has also repelled six counterattacks by Ukraine in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics (DPR and LPR).

Russia's central group of forces has repelled seven counterattacks by Ukraine in the DPR and Kiev lost up to 420 soldiers, while Russia's southern group has improved its positions in the DPR and Ukraine has lost more than 320 soldiers.
Russia's eastern group of forces has repelled one counterattack and the armed forces of Ukraine lost up to 145 soldiers, the ministry said.
Additionally, Ukraine has lost up to 245 soldiers in battles with the Russian northern group of troops, the ministry said.
