Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has inaugurated a specialized national army hospital in the city of Bishoftu in the central part of the country, he said in a statement, adding that it is one of the most important military hospitals in the country.
"It is one of the leading hospitals in our nation, serving as an emblem of the ability of generations to bring visionary projects to life for the benefit of citizens," the statement said.
The facility has a molecular laboratory, a bone densitometry center, a biomedical engineering department, and various basic medical services such as dialysis, neurology, and pulmonology, Abiy Ahmed added.
He also said that the hospital will provide high-quality medical services that were previously considered unavailable within Ethiopia's borders.
The new hospital is equipped with medical supplies purchased with Chinese aid and supported by Chinese-trained medical staff, according to Chinese state media.
Shewaye Haile, the hospital's commandant, told the media that Beijing sends teams of military medical experts to Ethiopia every year to save lives and provide medical care, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Ethiopian army in medical and health services.
