Deploying Western Troops in Ukraine Not Necessary, UK Secretary of Defense States

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier this month, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that some NATO troops have been deployed in Ukraine, and the alliance is assisting Kiev as much as it can.

UK Secretary of State for Defense Grant Shapps said on Wednesday that he does not consider it necessary to deploy Western troops in Ukraine.
Shapps told The Telegraph that he will not propose sending "boots on the ground" in Ukraine. The defense official said that training and financing the Ukrainian military should be prioritized now.
In his annual address to the Russian Federal Assembly in late February, President Vladimir Putin warned that the consequences of a possible NATO intervention in Ukraine would be tragic for the alliance's deployed troops.
