The death toll from the collapse of a building under construction in the South African city of George has risen to 30, while 22 people are still listed as missing, the municipality said on Monday.
"The confirmed statistics for the incident are: total estimated individuals on-site when the incident occurred: 81. Rescued and recovered: 59. Of which deceased: 30. Currently hospitalised: 13. Unaccounted for: 22," the municipality said in a statement.
As of 18:00 local time (16:00 GMT), rescue workers have spent 172 hours on the site, with the work still ongoing, the statement read.
The multi-story building under construction imploded last Monday, with 81 workers confirmed to have been on site at the time of the collapse.
