The 13th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Abu Dhabi recognized Uganda as the best investment destination in Africa, Anite Evelyn, Uganda's State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, said.

"Uganda has been awarded a recognition award of [the] best investment destination in Africa," she wrote on X.

The state minister added that the award is a "strong recognition" of efforts by the Ugandan government and the Uganda Investment Authority in "creating a conducive environment for investments and doing business in Uganda, including in the green economy."
Evelyn also revealed that she met with the UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, on the sidelines of the congress, during which they discussed possible cooperation in the agricultural processing, minerals and hospitality sectors.

The AIM Congress 2024 is being held under the theme "Adapting to a Shifting Investment Landscape: Harnessing New Potential for Global Economic Development."
In line with the theme, the Uganda Investment Authority said it has unveiled three green investment projects following the successful hosting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) 28 last year in Dubai, UAE, which attracted over $400 million in foreign direct investment to Uganda.
According to the World Bank, foreign direct investment accounts for more than 4% of Uganda's gross domestic product. The lender also forecasts that the country's economic growth will increase from 5.3% in 2023 to 6.0% in 2024.
The 13th Annual Investment Congress in Abu Dhabi is attended by some 12,000 people from more than 170 countries around the world, gathering businessmen, economists, investment experts and entire government delegations.
