The main event in honor of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany - a military parade to pay tribute to all those who brought the deadly war to an end - took place on Red Square in the Russian capital of Moscow on Thursday.
This year, for the first time in history, the parade was held under snow. Despite the weather, aviation was able to take part in the parade, and the intermittent snowfall did not interfere with the passage of equipment and soldiers.
The parade in honor of the 79th Victory Day of the Great Patriotic War was attended by 9,000 people and 75 pieces of equipment.
Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted the parade from the central podium. Traditionally, veterans of combat operations, participants of the Second World War and servicemen of the special military operation took part in the parade.
Leaders from countries such as Guinea-Bissau, Cuba, Laos, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan also attended the large-scale commemoration.
