Most regions of Kenya were left without power supply on Thursday afternoon due to a grid failure, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company said in a communique.
"At 5:40 pm (EAT) [14:40 GMT] today, Thursday, 2nd May 2024, we experienced a s system disturbance on the grid, resulting in power supply disruption in most parts of the country," the company, which transmits and distributes electricity across Kenya, said.
Power supply was restored in parts of Western Kenya, including the cities of Kisumu, Nakuru, Thika and the country's capital, Nairobi, around 9:30 pm EAT, the company said in a separate communique, adding that the restoration of power supply to the rest of the country was in progress.
