Egypt Minister of Finance Says Got Invitation to Russia's Kazan Forum in May

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The KazanForum has been held in the capital of Tatarstan since 2009, providing a platform for strengthening Russia's trade, economic, scientific, technological, social, and cultural ties with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states.

Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance of Egypt told Sputnik that he received an invitation to the upcoming 15th International Economic Forum in Kazan, and is looking into whether he can attend.
“We got an invitation. You have this [economic] forum… next month in May, I got an invitation,” Maait said on the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank Spring meetings in Washington DC. “But I still have to see whether I will be able to do it or not.”
More than 80 countries have confirmed their attendance at the 15th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum," which will be held in Russia's Tatarstan from May 14-19, the event's organizing committee said earlier this month.

The event is expected to attract not only foreign guests but also participants from various regions of Russia, Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov said.
The KazanForum has enjoyed federal status since 2023. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin is heading the forum's organizing committee.
