Israel has carried out an airstrike on the Nabi Chit settlement near the city of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, a source told Sputnik on Sunday.
“Israeli aircraft have attacked the Nabi Chit settlement located to the west of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon. Ambulances are heading to the site,” the source said.
Several Israeli military aircraft have been seen in the skies over northern Lebanon, above the coastal Mediterranean cities, including the city of Byblos, a Sputnik correspondent reported later in the day.
Israel's strikes come following a Saturday night massive drone and missile attack, launched by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Israel in response to the Jewish state's airstrike on the consular annex building adjacent to the Iranian Embassy in Damascus on April 1.
On Sunday, The New York Times reported, citing two Israeli officials, that Iran had launched a total of 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles. Israeli media reported that Israel had intercepted 99% of the drones and missiles fired by Iran and was preparing a decisive response.
