Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement on Kiev's new counterstrike has three political reasons, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
The first reason is that Zelensky, making such statements, wants to demonstrate the West a "determination to continue the bloodshed" and a necessity for new financial and military aid.
"Zelensky’s public belchings like this happen for three reasons. Firstly, to show Western sponsors a decisive determination to continue the bloodshed and an urgent need for new financial injections and arms supplies," the spokesperson noted.
Secondly, the Ukrainian president also seeks to "regularly remind the world about him," Zakharova said.
"Thirdly, the most important thing is to play along with the White House in the pre-election scenario, to demonstrate the viability of the Biden project called 'Ukrainian democracy.' What could all this lead to? Zelensky will finally exterminate the Ukrainians," the official concluded.
Earlier, a source in the Russian Ministry of Defense told reporters that Zelensky's new counteroffensive will end in "a complete disaster for Ukraine", with the ultimate defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
