Burkina Faso's interim president, Ibrahim Traore, handed over to the county’s armed forces a large batch of Turkish Bayraktar drones, the president’s office said.
"The transitional president, head of state, Captain Ibrahim Traore, handed over this Monday a large batch of drones to the Ministry of Defense as part of the reconquest of territory and the fight against terrorism," the office said, adding that Bayraktar TB2 and Bayraktar Akinci drones were procured.
The tests of the UAVs were considered successful and they will now join the ranks of the Burkina Faso army, the statement added.
The office noted that a dozen drones were purchased thanks to donations from citizens of the country.
