Microsoft to be investigated by South African antitrust agency over the company's cloud computing licensing practices, media reported, citing a source.
The company reportedly has no knowledge of any complaints from the agency.
In 2022, Microsoft had to deal with a similar issue in the European Union, when competitors in the region filed a complaint with the EU's competition authority over the company's new contract terms, which allegedly negatively impacted Europe's cloud computing ecosystem. The company subsequently modified its licensing terms.
The tech giant, among other companies, was also accused of profiting from child labor in cobalt mining operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. However, in March, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled in favor of the corporations.
