Nigeria's Dangote refinery could end $17 billion annual gasoline imports from Europe to Africa, Western media reported.
As European refineries face closure due to stiff competition, the Dangote facility, which was launched in January and can process up to 650,000 barrels per day, is projected to become the largest refinery in Africa and Europe, the outlet said.
The Dangote refinery has been widely hailed as a major milestone in Nigeria's quest for energy independence, according to the report.
In mid-February, it was reported that the Dangote refinery was preparing to export its first fuel shipments.
