Russia's Federal Security Service Disrupts Terrorist Attack in Samara Region

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Tuesday that it had prevented a terrorist attack in the Samara Region.

The attack was planned under the auspices of the Ukrainian special services by an accomplice of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC)*, according to a statement released by the agency.

"Russia's FSB on the territory of the Samara Region has prevented a terrorist attack planned by a Russian citizen, born in 1994, an accomplice of the Russian Volunteer Corps terrorist organization, operating under the patronage of the Ukrainian special services," the FSB said.

The suspect planned to detonate a bomb in the building of a humanitarian aid reception center. During the arrest of the attacker, his bomb exploded, resulting in his death. Security officials and civilians were not injured, the FSB said.
