Judge Santiago Pedraz ruled to block Telegram's services after major Spanish media groups Mediaset, Atresmedia and Movistar filed a complaint accusing the platform of hosting copyrighted content without permission, La Vanguardia newspaper reported on Saturday.
Access to Telegram will be suspended in Spain while the investigation is underway, the report said, adding that network operators would be responsible for blocking the services.
Despite the court ruling, completely blocking access to Telegram is difficult, the newspaper said.
A Sputnik correspondent reported on Saturday evening that the app was still up and running in Spain.
