Niger needs medical equipment produced in Russia, and partnership with Moscow will allow the country to develop as a whole, Niger's Minister of Higher Education and Science Saidou Mamadou said.
"We need specialists in the fields of engineering, oil and gas, and medicine. Within the framework of cooperation in the medical field, we need to be provided with equipment produced in Russia," the minister noted.
He highlighted areas in which Niger is also interested, including the training of engineers and the development of new technologies in the energy sector. According to him, the problem of providing electricity to the country's population is acute.
"The partnership with Russia is a positive development that will allow us to move quickly into the future and build a constructive dialogue, especially in the field of education," Mamadou emphasized.
Earlier this week, the head of Niger's ruling National Council for the Defense of the Homeland, General Abdourahamane Tiani, stressed that Niamey is looking forward to working with Moscow to restore sovereignty and pledged his readiness to work with Russia to strengthen bilateral relations.
In July 2023, a coup took place in Niger, a former French colony. President Mohamed Bazoum was ousted and detained by his own guard, led by General Abdourahamane Tiani. The National Council for the Defense of the Homeland was created, and a decree was signed forming a new transitional government.
