Niger will hold the first Digital Week in April, the country's Minister of Communication, Posts and Digital Economy Sidi Mohamed Raliou announced during a press briefing in Niamey on Friday.
The event is part of the national effort to promote the digital transformation of the country. The minister also mentioned several major initiatives planned by the government, which reflect "the will of the Nigerien authorities at the highest level, to follow the progress of the world by making digital technology a lever for socio-economic development."
These include digitizing public administration, modernizing infrastructure and facilitating internet access, setting up a National Cybersecurity Center, as well as ensuring universal access to quality connectivity at an affordable cost.
