Yemen and Russia have "serious" potential for cooperation in the economy, especially in mineral resources, and have agreed to arrange mutual visits of groups of specialists to look into the matter, the prime minister of Yemen's internationally recognized government, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, said on Tuesday.
"We discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in various spheres. In particular, we paid attention to the economy. We have serious opportunities to develop this cooperation, in particular, in the sphere of mineral resources. We also agreed to work out the issue of mutual visits of technical groups to study the subject," bin Mubarak said at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The Yemeni prime minister added that he had proposed to consider resuming the work of an intergovernmental commission to boost cooperation between the countries.
On Monday, bin Mubarak arrived in Moscow for a three-day official visit. Aside from Lavrov, he is also expected to hold meetings with Russian lower house speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matvienko and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
