Russia's Special Operation in Ukraine

Aerial Photos: Views of DPR City of Avdeyevka Liberated by Russian Army

The city of Avdeyevka, a northern suburb of Donetsk, is an important stronghold that will allow Russian forces to push further to the west, driving back Kiev regime forces and preventing them from launching further attacks on Russian towns and cities.

On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian armed forces have taken full control over the city of Avdeyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
Russian President Vladimir Putin later said that the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces gave the order to withdraw from Avdeyevka as Ukrainian troops were fleeing from there, and called the capture of the city an "unconditional success that must be developed."
After capturing the city, Russian fighters also discovered Western weapons at the Ukrainian unit's location: among the ammunition they found a batch of shells for an automatic grenade launcher, all foreign, presumably from Poland or Bulgaria.
The Russian army is now clearing the suburbs of Avdeyevka of Ukrainian fighters and demining streets and buildings in the city.
