The survey revealed that 63% of Americans support the interview taking place, versus 29% who do not. A further 8% said they "don't know" if it was the right thing to do.
Mainstream US media criticized Carlson for flying out to Moscow to speak with President Putin. Among those who condemned the move were those who complained that they too had been trying to sit down for an interview with the Russian leader.
Carlson broadcast the more than two-hour interview with Putin on Thursday evening. As of Saturday, the video has racked up 177 million views on the X microblogging platform, while over 290,000 users reposted it and 940,000 liked it. On YouTube, the video has been viewed close to 11 million times.
