The fire broke out shortly before midnight in Nairobi's Embakasi district and started with several explosions. At least two people died and 170 were injured in the blasts and ensuing fire, local media reported earlier in the day, citing authorities.
Over 140 people, including 25 children, were rushed to Nairobi's Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
"The concerted actions of various response units have resulted in the successful evacuation of 271 individuals to different health facilities in Nairobi," the Kenya Red Cross said on X.
At least 27 other wounded were treated promptly at the scene, the organization said.
