Russia and South Africa are expanding cooperation in the field of standardization, the Russian Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) said in a statement.
"A memorandum on cooperation in the field of standardization between Rosstandart and the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) was signed by the head of Rosstandart Anton Shalaev and the acting director general of SABS Lungelo Ntobongwana within the framework of the working visit of the delegation of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology to the Republic of South Africa," the statement said.
The Russian agency explained that "the purpose of the document is to establish a mechanism of cooperation in the field of standardization, technical documentation and other areas of mutual interest of the two countries."
By signing this agreement, the two countries hope to facilitate economic and technological cooperation between Russia and South Africa.
The agenda of the meeting also included consideration of cooperation between the two countries in the BRICS format.
