Venezuela Continues to Strengthen Ties With Russia, Says Foreign Minister

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Monday, the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), a forum of 120 nations - including Venezuela - that are neither formally aligned with nor opposed to any major power bloc, began in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. Russia has observer status in the organization.

Caracas continues to develop bilateral relations with Moscow, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto said after a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin in Kampala, Uganda at the Non-Aligned Movement summit.

“We continue to strengthen bilateral relations with our allies and friends. Now we had a pleasant conversation with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, with whom we again discussed the political and economic ties of our countries,” Gil Pinto said on X.

According to the minister, the sides at the meeting confirmed their unified position on many international issues.
