Iran Launches Soraya Satellite Into Orbit at 750 Km Above Earth's Surface

TEHRAN (Sputnik) - Iran has successfully launched the Soraya satellite and put it into orbit 750 kilometers (466 miles) above the Earth's surface, the country's government said on Saturday.

"The Soraya satellite belonging to the Iranian Space Agency [of the Iranian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology] was successfully launched using a three-stage Qaem-100 solid-fuel rocket of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and put into orbit at an altitude of 750 kilometers," the government said in a statement on Telegram.
In November 2023, Iranian Communications Minister Issa Zarepour said Tehran was planning to launch five new satellites into space by the end of the Iranian calendar year, March 20, 2024, including two launches by the defense ministry and one foreign satellite.
In September, the minister said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air force had successfully put the Noor-III military satellite into orbit 450 kilometers above the Earth's surface.
