Kremlin Says No Discussions on Resuming Grain Deal, No Grounds for This

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - There are currently no discussions in connection with the resumption of the grain deal due to absence of grounds for this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

On Thursday, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar said that Kiev is engaged in "certain negotiations" to find an alternative format to the grain deal. Russia does not yet see any prospects for resuming the Black Sea grain initiative. Earlier on Friday, a diplomatic source in Ankara told Sputnik that Turkey is not conducting any negotiations on alternatives to the Black Sea grain initiative, as the non-participation of either party to the deal carries risks.
"No, these conversations are no longer being held, there are probably no grounds for resuming these conversations. The part of the deal that concerned us was never implemented, and there are no prospects for the implementation, we do not see them," Peskov told reporters.
Commenting on Ukraine's attempts to find new routes to transport its grain, the official said that they are dangerous and shipowners and companies should be aware that they are working with maximum risk.
