The Armed Forces of Ukraine on Thursday morning fired 10 missiles at Russia's city of Belgorod and its surrounding region, all of them were shot down by Russian air defenses, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
“On the morning shelling of Belgorod and the Belgorodsky District [of the Belgorod Region] by the Armed Forces of Ukraine: 10 missiles flew in our direction, all were successfully shot down by our air defenses,” Gladkov said in a video message on Telegram.
On December 30, the Ukrainian military shelled the center of Belgorod, using two rockets with cluster munitions and Czech-made MLRS shells.
On the next day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a retaliatory strike on military targets in Ukraine, including in Kharkov, as a result of which the Ukrainian military, as well and foreign mercenaries, suffered significant losses.
