Cote d'Ivoire defeats Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in the opening match of the African Cup of Nations. The teams played in the Cote d'Ivoire's city of Abidjan.
The goals were scored by Seco Fofana (4th minute) and Jean-Philippe Crasseau (58). The teams play in Group A together with the national teams of Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, which will play their first round match on Sunday.
In the second round, the Ivory Coast national team will play against Nigeria. The Guinea-Bissau national team will play against Equatorial Guinea. The games will take place on January 18.
The tournament takes place in Cote d'Ivoire and will end on February 11. Initially, the competition was supposed to be held in 2023, but due to weather conditions, it were postponed to 2024. The last time the tournament was held was in 2021, when the Senegalese national team won.
