Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa donated 54 bicycles to Chief Mapanzure, at one of the primary schools in Zvishavane, a town in the central part of the country, Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting shared the news on Tuesday.
The bicycles will be distributed to village heads, the ministry said.
The present intended to help local mobility, according to Mnangagwa. He also emphasized that he had purchased these bicycles in response to the request by Chief Mapanzure.
Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, the First Lady, added to the festive atmosphere by presenting Christmas hampers to the wives of the participating village chiefs.
Earlier, in his address to the nation on the National Unity Day on December 22, he called the fellow Zimbabweans to "accelerate the attainment" of the national vision for "prosperous and empowered society."
