Russian humanitarian aid was sent against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian escalation that flared up in October and resulted in over 20,000 Gazans killed, including 8,000 children, and more than 52,000 injured, according to the enclave's authorities.

Another 20 tonnes of Russian humanitarian aid for Gaza residents arrived in Egypt's El Arish airport. The cargo includes food, medicines, blankets, clothes and shoes, personal hygiene items.

Since the outbreak of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, the Russian Emergencies Ministry has delivered some 300 tonnes of humanitarian aid to residents of the region.
