Russia believes in the effectiveness of the African states' efforts via regional multinational armed forces, which should remain predictably funded by the International community, Deputy Ambassador to the UN Anna Evstigneeva said at a Security Council meeting.
She added that Moscow is concerned by Boko Haram's* activities in the African region and other such entities tied to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group*.
"We are concerned by the persistence of Boko Haram destructive activity and the activities in the region of groups affiliated with ISIL [IS]," Evstigneeva said on Wednesday.
The United Nation offices in Africa track and sum the terrorist activities of Boko Haram mainly from open sources and internal reports of individual UN missions. Dedicated UN teams then compile graphs and conduct analysis and present it to some of the UN member states.
