France will complete the withdrawal of its contingent from Niger by December 22, Nigerien armed forces have said.
"To date, only 157 French soldiers are left on our territory, including 75 logisticians," the statement, which was read on national television, said.
The process of withdrawal of French forces from Niger is taking place "in a coordinated and completely safe manner," the statement reads.
Following the military coup in Niger in late July, the country's new leaders demanded the expulsion of the French ambassador and announced the denunciation of military agreements with France, requesting the pullout of its troops.
In early October, the first group of French military left Niger, and Paris promised to complete the withdrawal of troops by the end of the year. Amid anti-French demonstrations in the Sahelian region, Burkina Faso and Mali have also stopped military cooperation with France.
