Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed in a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
"The foreign ministers discussed in detail the topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the development of the results of the extensive talks between the presidents of the two countries held in Moscow on December 7. It was agreed to accelerate work on finalizing the approval of a new 'large' interstate agreement, which is in a high degree of readiness. Special attention was paid to the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone," the statement said.
The counterparts expressed concern about the continued escalation and deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and underscored the importance of an immediate ceasefire and the provision of urgent assistance to the affected civilian population, the ministry added.
