The draft resolution has received 15 votes in favor.
The resolution states that the Security Council is "highlighting its decision in this resolution to fully lift the arms embargo on the Federal Republic of Somalia…".
The document further notes to better clarify that "for the avoidance of doubt, that there is no arms embargo on the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia."
The Russian Deputy Permanent Representative Anna Evstigneeva welcomed the decision of the Council and said that: "Russia has consistently spoken in favor of review of temporary sanctions regimes in the states of Africa, as they impede the development of international law enforcement and security agencies."
