Ex-Minneapolis Police Officer Stabbed 22 Times in Federal Prison, Reports Say

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was stabbed 22 times during an attack in a federal prison last week in Arizona, CBS News reported.

The report said on Friday that the inmate who stabbed Chauvin told corrections officers he would kill the former police officer had they not stopped him immediately.
According to the report, the inmate stabbed Chauvin with an improvised knife.
Chauvin was hospitalized after the attack, but is in stable condition, the report said.
The alleged attacker has been identified as 52-year-old John Turscak, who now faces charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to commit murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
Chauvin was convicted in connection to the death of George Floyd, which sparked mass protests across the United States.
