Gabon's Transport Minister Dieudonne Loic Ndinga Moudouma said that active efforts are being made in the aviation sector to combat climate change, a UAE news agency reported.
The official noted that Gabon's participation in the ICAO CAAF, taking place on November 20-24 in the UAE city of Dubai, indicates that the country adheres to the concept of sustainable development and strives to use clean energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
He added that the conference agenda contains numerous topics, contributing to the protection of the environment and the prevention of carbon dioxide emissions, especially in the aviation sector.
The minister noted that such events facilitate the formation of opinions and the exchange of solutions to overcome climate problems not only in Africa, but also around the world.
The Central African country was represented at the conference by the country's officials of the interim government, which was appointed in early September by the new military leader, who came to power in late August.
On August 30, shortly after the Gabon's presidential elections, held on August 26, the military invalidated the results of the polls, denying Ali Bongo Ondimba a third term in office, which, according to the rebel-appointed leader General Brice Oligui Nguema, was a liberation and not a coup.
