Russia has sent another 27 tonnes of humanitarian aid for the people of the Gaza Strip, the Russian Ministry of Emergencies (EMERCOM) said on Monday. The aid arrived at the airport of the city of El Arish, Egypt
"EMERCOM will deliver another 27 tonnes of humanitarian aid for the people of the Gaza Strip. EMERCOM's Il-76 aircraft has left [the Russian city of] Makhachkala for Egypt," the ministry said on Telegram earlier.
The humanitarian aid will be first handed over to representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, who will then make sure it reaches Gaza, the statement read.
The delivery of the cargo has been organized following a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and under the direction of EMERCOM chief Alexander Kurenkov.
On October 7, Palestinian movement Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip and breached the border, killing and abducting people in neighboring Israeli communities. Israel launched retaliatory strikes and ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, cutting off supplies of water, food, and fuel.
On October 27, Israel launched a large-scale ground incursion inside the Gaza Strip with the declared goal of eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing the hostages. The conflict has resulted in thousands of death from both sides.
