Ukraine launched a counteroffensive in June and has since attempted to attack Russian territory using drones. The Bryansk region and the Black Sea area near Crimea have once again become Ukrainian targets. The attacks, however, were prevented.

"Early on November 16, attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type UAVs against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation were stopped," the ministry said.

The Russian Ministry added that air defense systems on duty destroyed two Ukrainian drones over the territory of the Bryansk Region and intercepted three more over the Black Sea near the coast of Crimea.
The governor of the region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that the drones were destroyed near the city of Bryansk and that no injuries and no damages had been registered.

"The Russian Defense Ministry’s air defense units have destroyed two aircraft-type drones near Bryansk. No injuries and no damages have been registered," Bogomaz wrote on Telegram.

He added that task forces had been operating on the scene and thanked the air defense units.
The Russian Special Military Operation was launched on February 24, 2022, aiming to "protect people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years," as Russian President Vladimir Putin stated.
