Some of the new world centers have already been identified – these are Russia, China, India, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said during one of the events at the International RUSSIA EXPO in Moscow.
As for other world centers, the official noted that some of them "are in the process of consolidation," including Islamic world, Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, while the United States in the new, multipolar world order will become only one of many poles, and Brussels is unlikely to be able to claim this.
"Others are in the process of consolidation and structuring: the Islamic world, Africa, Latin America, ASEAN [Southeast Asia]. The BRICS and SCO associations are now among the key ones for the interaction of countries. As for the USA, they will become one of the many poles of the world. But a weakening Europe will not be able to claim this," Patrushev pointed out.
Patrushev also reminded that now the association includes 11 countries.
During the 15th annual BRICS summit, it was announced that six new countries, including two African ones, namely Egypt and Ethiopia, would join the bloc on January 1, 2024.
Speaking about the changes in the global order and multipolarity, Russian President Vladimir Putin in early October said that "the process of building a multipolar world order [...] is simply inevitable and historically necessary."
For his part, Chinese Leader Xi Jinping in late September said that "the modern world is experiencing tectonic shifts," adding that "the formation of world multipolarity is accelerating, there is a trend towards anti-globalization."
